Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Daniel Arthur Throckmorton, 58, passed away June 21, 2010, of natural causes, at his home in Wasilla.
A wake will be held Saturday at 2 p.m., at Daybreak Apartments, 2080 N. Hemmer Road, Palmer.
He was born Nov. 1, 1951, to Carl and Kathryn (Mooney) Throckmorton in Oregon. In 1993, Mr. Throckmorton moved to Alaska, calling Palmer his home. While living in Oregon, he was employed as a roofer. He enjoyed collecting memorabilia, had a great joy of cooking and loved Christmas.
“Family and friends will dearly miss ‘Dan the Man,’” a loved one stated. “Dan was the most loving and dedicated person one could have the honor to know. His life here on earth is remembered by many. Rest in peace, my best friend. I will always feel your presence and you will be forever in my heart — N.J.”
He is survived by his sister, Barbara Melland of Wasilla; brother, Steven Mark Throckmorton of Oregon; brother, Lyle Throckmorton of Oklahoma; sister, Mary Clark of Oklahoma, and niece, Brittney, of Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Mooney Throckmorton.
Arrangements were with Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Wasilla.
