Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Daniel Carl Scheibl, 70, of Wasilla, Alaska, passed away on August 17, 2023. Born on September 11, 1952, in Anchorage, Alaska, Daniel had an extreme love for the great outdoors and his family. He spent his years planning camping and hunting trips all around Alaska, from floating 3-day trips on the Little Susitna River to 45-day float trips down the Yukon River. When he wasn't exploring the wilderness, Daniel enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sharing stories of his adventures and his knowledge of the great outdoors.
Daniel is survived by his mother, Rosella Scheibl, and his siblings: Carl Scheibl, Gary Scheibl, David Scheibl, Nancy Hansen, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Scheibl, his biological father, Frank Haumschild, his sister, Susan Tolladay, and his brother, Steven Scheibl.
A Memorial service will be held Wednesday August 23 at St Michaels Church in Palmer, Alaska, at 11 AM, followed by a celebration of life at the American Legion Post 15 in Palmer at 2 PM.
Daniel's love for the outdoors, his dedication to his family, and his adventurous spirit will be deeply missed. May his memory live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
