Daniel Dolfi, also known as “Danny” or “Dan the Man,” died Sept. 3, 2010 peacefully at home with his loved ones at his side after a lengthy illness.
A celebration of life and potluck will be at 4 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Alpine Inn, Mile 61 Glenn Highway. Everyone is welcome to come and share their stories.
Danny was born Oct. 24, 1947 in Butte, Mont., and moved to Sutton in 1949. He spent most of his life in Sutton, leaving from 1965 to 1969 when he joined the U.S. Navy. During his time in the Navy, he earned a Meritorious Unit commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He traveled abroad and throughout the Lower 48 and Canada, but always returned home to Sutton.
Danny also worked for Aurora Wells and many Alaska oilfield companies. He attended Mat-Su Community College and received his degree in refrigeration and heating tech, major refrigeration and heating tech, and HCAV/R and HCAC/R — all types of construction and mechanical work.
His family said Danny enjoyed working on vehicles and listening to his music with his boys. He loved growing plants and spending time with his nephews Tylor and Conner, whom he was raising. He enjoyed get-togethers with family and friends.
“Danny touched many people throughout his life and was loved by many,” his family wrote. “He will be missed by everyone, but left this world with lots of fond and happy memories.”
Danny is survived by his wife, Roxanne Dolfi; children, Brian (Terri) Fisher, Justin (Tasha) Dolfi, Daniel Dolfi Jr. and Meredith Dolfi; brothers, Rick (Claudia), Dave and Ronnie Dolfi, all of Sutton; sisters, Barbara (Mel) Barker of Fairbanks and Sylvia (Ernie) Richardson of Kountze, Texas; nephews, Tylor, Connor and Rick Jr.; and many more nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Rose Dolfi, and brother, James Dolfi Jr.
Memorial donations can be made to Roxanne Dolfi, P.O. Box 189, Sutton, AK 99674. Arrangements are with Legacy Funeral Homes — Kehl’s Palmer Chapel, legacyalaska.com.
