Daniel Joseph Howard, 65, died June 15, 2012, at the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer from complications due to cancer.

Daniel was born July 23, 1946, in Ketchikan to Robert and Dorothy Howard. He graduated at East Anchorage High School in 1964.

Daniel lived in many parts of Alaska. He lived in Ketchikan from 1946-52; Unalaska from 1953-55; Anchorage from 1955-68; Fairbanks from 1969-70; he moved back to Anchorage and lived there from 1970-88; and then moved to Wasilla from 1989-2012.

His employment in Alaska included working at Xerox Co; he was a finance manager at Anchorage Chrysler and several other dealerships in Anchorage and Wasilla; and he spent years driving taxi’s in the Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley. He enjoyed fishing, Alaska history, travel, cars and was an accomplished pen and pencil artist. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion, Jack Henry Post in Anchorage.

Daniel’s children wrote, “We love and miss you Dad, so much. We will forever treasure memories made with you and the knowledge of how you loved us, and your grandkids. We look forward to the day we can be together with you again, Dad. — Love, Danielle and Mark.”

Surviving are his daughter, Danielle D. D’Agostino and Rich D’Agostino of Kirkland, Wash.; son, Mark P. Howard and Jessica Hilliard of Los Angeles, Calif.; grandsons, Kyle J. Patterson, 17, of Kirkland, Wash., Dane R. D’Agostino, 8, of Kirkland, Wash., Cade D. D’Agostino, 6, of Kirkland, Wash.; sisters, Marilyn J. McGuire of Wasilla, Janice L. Shepard and Peter of Etna, Maine, Mary G. Lockwood and Doug of Anchorage, Peggy A. Day and Pat of Valdez; ex-wife and friend, Annie Smith and Dana of Palm Desert, Calif.; numerous nieces, nephews, their children, and their children’s children.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert A. Howard and Dorothy I. Clifton (Hamann).
