Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Darla Dee Ann Rodland, 50, of Palmer passed away unexpectedly May 13, 2013 at her home.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m., May 18 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 9475 E. Colony Way, Palmer. A viewing is from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
Darla was born May 10, 1963, in New Orleans, La., to William V. Pellman and Sharon Dowies. She graduated from West High School in Anchorage.
Darla had been a resident of Alaska since 1978 and resided in Wasilla, Anchorage and Palmer.
Darla has worked at Prime Cable, Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, Alaska Housing and Scentsy. She was also Women’s Auxiliary President of VFW Post 1685. Darla was proud of being a foster mom and domestic engineer of her home. Darla loved raising children. She loved all animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed embroidery and gardening.
Darla was a loving mother and wife and was unselfish with her love and care for us and others. She always saw the best in everyone. She was very kind and patient and will be with us forever in our hearts.
Survivors include her husband, Eric; sons, Jeremy Bennett of Abilene, Texas, Sean Rodland of Wasilla and Weston Rodland of Palmer; daughters, Julia Vendetti of Palmer, Jamie Otto of Peters Creek and Ryanne Rodland of Moscow, Idaho.
Darla was preceded in death by a brother, Brian K. Pellman.
