Former Wasilla resident Darlene Rae Couture, 66, died April 11, 2011, at Ponca City Medical Center in Oklahoma.
Darlene was born Dec. 15, 1944, in Yakima, Wash., the daughter of Joe and Maxine Brandt. She was employed as a registered nurse, retiring in 2006. She served her country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged at the rank of 2nd lieutenant.
She is survived by her two children, Jeff Couture and wife Jennifer of Wasilla, and Alicia Assink and husband Owen of Yakima, Wash.; and grandchildren, David Assink, Jacob Assink, Joshua Assink, Jaden Couture and Justin Couture.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Mary Margaret Brandt and Sharon DeLaney; and brother, Eddie Brandt.
Memorial services are planned at a later date in Washington and Alaska.
