David Alan Prewitt, 74, of Anchorage passed away on April 27, 2022, to be with his Father in Heaven.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years, Vivian Prewitt. He is survived by his step-daughter, Lorene Schaefer, and her husband, John Hooi, of Atlanta, GA; his step-daughter, Frances (Feuerbach) Maier, and her husband, Kevin, of Rockport, IN; his siblings, Donna Jean Prewitt of Anchorage, AK; Linda Diane Sobczak and her husband, Ted, of Harrisburg, PA; Sheryl Prewitt-Ronan and her husband, Tim, of Anchorage, AK; Dennis James Prewitt and his wife, Sherrie, of Farmington, NM; grandchildren Kate Schaefer of Cincinnati, OH; Alex Schaefer of Washington, DC; Tyler Maier of Evansville, IN; Mattie Schaefer of Burlington, VT; and Joshua Maier of Rockport, IN; and his aunts Barbara Brown of Anchorage, AK; and Gerry Keeling of Palmer, AK; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many beloved friends.
David was born in Palmer, AK, on February 27, 1948, the fourth of seven children to Clay and Jean (Kindgren) Prewitt. He was a Veteran of the Navy where he proudly served on the aircraft carrier the USS Kitty Hawk. When he completed his service in 1973, he joined Local 959 of the Teamsters Union where he remained a dues paying member for 48 years.
A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 3230 Lake Otis Pkwy, Anchorage, AK 99508 on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 2:00 PM. The family invites you to attend to join them in praising God for the gift of David in their lives and in the life of the St. Mark community. A reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the nonprofit “Friends of Pets” in honor of David’s beloved dogs Henry, Toby, and Sarah https://friendsofpets.org/get-involved/donate or to his home church of St. Mark Lutheran Church.
