Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

David Allen Hecker, 21, of Wasilla passed away July 24, 2015, due to a motorcycle accident at Mile 37.5, Glenn Highway.
A celebration of life is at 4 p.m., Aug. 1, at 1600 W. Rivulet Ave., Wasilla. Pastor Gary Oathout will officiate. Everyone is welcome to come and share stories and memories as we celebrate our love for him on Saturday. We would like to publically thank each and every one of you who have sent your love, who have offered your help and brought food etc. and offered prayers, we truly appreciate all of you. God speed David, you are loved so much and missed by so many.
David was born Aug. 7, 1993, in Silverton, Oregon, and moved to Alaska the summer of 1999. He attended school and graduated from Wasilla High School. He was an electrician, currently employed with Premier Electric in the Palmer/Wasilla area. David had a passion for riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing, frolfing, kayaking, rafting, skydiving, snowboarding, snowmachining, and any outdoor activity, also any chance to be with his family and friends. He had a big heart for everyone. David will be well-remembered for his beautiful smile, his contagious laugh, and the way he whistled when he saw something he liked. He will still go on many more hunting and fishing trips with his dad. The first animal, bird, or fish, will always be his — I love you buddy, his dad said.
David is survived by his father, Todd Hecker and Stacy of Wasilla; mother, Rachel Petersen and husband, Dave of Wasilla; brother, John of Wasilla; sister, Kelsey Hecker (Terrance) of South Dakota; sister, Teagon Potter (Jimmy); niece, Addison; nephew Blake; brother, Chad Butcher (Lanesia); nephew, Bently; sister, Kaitlyn Chauvin (Mitchell) and all of Wasilla; grandparents, Truman Blake of Palmer, Joyce and George burnett of Oregon, David Hecker of Kodiak, Carol and Dale Hamernick of Minnesota, and Robert and Denise Kallen of Montana; aunt, Sarah (Darr) Budnick of Oregon; uncle, Darrin Blake of Oregon; uncle, Randy Kallen of Wasilla; aunt, Cheryl Kallen of Montana; his loyal beloved companion — his pup, Crooks; many cousins and friends he considered family; sister, Ashley Gibson, Jeremy Carter, Ray and Steven Matherne, Trever Fitchett and many more to name — but you all know who you are.
David is preceded in death by his grandma, Sharon Blake; uncle, Tim Hecker; and nephew, Paxon Butcher.
