Willow resident David E. Jacobs, 62, died June 7, 2011, at his home.
A memorial Mass in David’s honor is at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 11, at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Willow with military honors provided to recognize his service to our country in the U.S. Army.
David was born Sept. 12, 1948, in Dallas, Texas, the son of Dorsey and Tressie (Bennett) Jacobs.
David moved to Alaska in the early 1980s and lived in Ketchikan before moving to Willow.
David worked for the local Veterans Service Center, where he really cared for and reached out to with a genuinely caring heart to combat veterans who served in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam.
David’s family said he was a genuine and generous man with a deep love for his wife, Flory, and that he was a hard-working man who showed a lot of determination in everything he did.
Surviving are his wife of 10 years, Flory of Willow; sister, Marlene England; many friends; and veterans he helped here in the Mat-Su Valley. Preceding him in death was his brother Donald Jacobs.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in his memory be made to the local Veterans Service Center in Wasilla to assist our men and women who served our country.
Valley Funeral Home and Crematory of Wasilla cared for the family.
