David Hammond

The Lord welcomed his faithful son, David Michael Hammond, into Heaven on September 12th 2022, at the young age of 67. He unexpectedly passed away in his backyard in Wasilla. He will be deeply missed by his daughters and grandchildren.

David was born on New Year’s Day 1955 in Tacoma, Washington to Margaret Swenson and G. Hammond. He was one of nine children, from a broken home; something he never let define him. He was taken in by the Fordice family at the age of 8. He was a true boy scout and graduated from Lincoln High School. He moved to Alaska in 1975. He accepted Jesus and was baptized in Anchorage in 1982. He married Sharon in 1984 and they had three daughters. In 1999, he reunited with family members that he had not seen since his childhood. He was a committed employee to Vend Alaska for over 30 years.

Dad’s greatest happiness came from spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. He enjoyed studying the bible and teaching Sunday school. He was patient, content and dependable. He liked going on walks, watching his grandsons play baseball, going fishing, talking to his sisters Carol and Vicki on the phone, and enjoying what Alaska had to offer. He was a good listener, friend, and neighbor. He valued people.

He is survived by his daughter, Sharlene and son-in-law, Ryan Cucullu and children, Lindsey and Aaron; his daughter, Michelle and son-in-law, Jeremy Jacobson and children, Kayden, Marlee, Otto, and Greta; his grandsons, Kaden Hammond and Corey Roehl, and their mother, Amy Roehl; as well as a large extended family including six sisters, two brothers and his mother, Linda.

The funeral will be officiated by Pastor Jim Hearn at Settlers Bay Community Church on Saturday, September 24th at 2pm. Interment to follow.
