Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

David L. Strickland, 60, died Dec. 13, 2012, at his residence in Wasilla.
A memorial service is at 3 p.m., Dec. 15 at Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel, 1015 S. Check St., Wasilla.
David was born in Englewood, N.J. He settled in Alaska in 1982, and considered it home ever since. He had a dry sense of humor and loved to play golf. Most people who played competitive golf in Alaska knew Dave.
He spent more than 20 years working with Peak Oilfield Services and Precision Power, and had many friends in the community.
Surviving are his loving wife, Dawn Strickland of Wasilla; mother, Betty Strickland of Virginia; brother, Michael Strickland of Virginia; son, Bryan Strickland of New Jersey; step-son, Clair E. Crosby of Wasilla; step-daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Tyler Platt of Anchorage; and mother-in-law, Virginia Smith of Anchorage.
“Dave will be missed by all who knew and loved him,” his family said.
Arrangements are with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel, Wasilla.
