David Garford Mahler, 71, passed away August 15, 2016 at his son’s home in Wasilla, while under the care of hospice. Dave was born on July 15, 1945 in Rockford, Illinois; he turned 16 years old on the Al-Can Highway. Dave has been a resident of Palmer, Alaska for most of his life. He retired from the Carpenters Union in 1998. Dave loved woodworking, fishing and gardening. My father had such a wonderful spirit and character; with great friends and family that surrounded him with your sense of humor and boisterous laughter; you will forever be missed by all. RIP David Garford Mahler. Dave is survived by his sons, George Mahler and Cecil Mahler; his grandchildren, Helen Pena, Kaylee Mahler and Stace Moore. Dave is also survived by the mother of his sons, Dorinda Mahler. A memorial service will be held at Lazy Mountain Bible Church in Palmer on August 22, 2016 at 3 p.m. A celebration of his life will follow the memorial service.
