Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Eagle River resident David Morrison McGill, 53, passed away at home in Eagle River on March 25, 2014, due to complications from cancer.
Graveside services of David’s ashes were at 1:30 p.m., March 27 at the Fort Richardson National Cemetery at JBER, Alaska with Military Honors.
David was born April 21, 1960, at Fort Myers, Fla. He became a resident of Alaska in 1976. After serving in the United States Army, he focused his talents on plumbing. He was self-employed over the years as well as worked for Circle Plumbing and also R&S Plumbing.
His family wrote, “David always helped people in need, especially with their plumbing. He always strove to be a better person, pursuing continuing education to better himself. He worked hard to provide for his family. He was also a friend of the truest sort — you could count on David to be there for you in your time of need.”
Preceding him in death was his mother, Barbara Cavanaugh; and his father, William McGill.
Surviving are his son, William McGill; and his brother, Dan McGill.
