Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Longtime Wasilla resident David Ross Brown, 71, passed away Aug. 23 at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer from complications due to Alzheimer’s.
Per his request no services will be held.
David was born April 27, 1943, to Ross E. and Violet (Riddle) Brown in Puyallup, Washington. He entered into the U.S. Air Force in 1961 and served our nation for 30 years until retiring June 30, 1991. After retirement he had worked for the state of Alaska at the Alaska Guard Armory from 1991 until retiring in 2000. David volunteered with the Mat-Su Animal Control Shelter and was president of the Animal Control Board. He held a special quality in which he always had a smile when meeting people, and he never considered anyone a stranger. Dave enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing and traveling.
“Dave will always be remembered for the ‘once in a lifetime’ love and devotion he felt and showed his wife of 53 years. His family will deeply miss the special way he loved and cared for them,” shared the family.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Brown; sons, Troy and Tony Brown; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brother, Denny Brown.
