Long time Mat-Su Valley resident David Wiles, 78, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016, at his residence in Palmer, Alaska. David will be buried at Ft. Richardson National Cemetery.
Dave was born on December 18, 1937, in Norfolk, Virginia. Dave graduated from Norview High School in 1956. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force with 14 years of service. He became an Alaska resident in June of 1966. He also resided in Milton, Florida from 1996-2007. He worked for Wilbur’s Flight Services as a pilot and later went on to become a civil engineer with the FAA. Dave retired in June 1995 after 23 years.
Dave was always active in the communities of Palmer, Alaska and Milton, Florida. He was Chaplain and Exalted Ruler at Milton Florida Elks Lodge #2377. He was also a Trustee and Esquire at Palmer, Alaska Elks Lodge #1842.
Dave loved to fly airplanes, race stock cars, and ride his Harley-Davidson with his brother Leigh and son Dan. He loved to sit around the campfire; he also loved to read, travel and spend time with his family and friends.
Dave is survived by his wife, Tina Jane, of Palmer; his brother, Reverend Leigh Wiles; his children, Georgia and Shane Pollock, Daniel Wiles, David R. Wiles, and Nancy L. Bolin; his grandchildren, Hudson and Kyleigh Pollock, Austin, Piper, and Taber Wiles, Carter and Julia Wiles, Ansley and Charlie Bolin, and great- grandson, Emory Gosnell.
