Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Deborah Kay Dundas, 53 died Sept. 10, 2012, in Anchorage.
A viewing is at noon, Sept. 22, at Anchorage Native Assembly of God on the corner of 11th and Ingra. Pastor Eldon Hicks will officiate. The viewing begins at noon with services to at 1 p.m., and burial at St. Nicolas cemetery in Eklutna at 3 p.m. Pallbearers will include Victor Jimenez, James Ross, Johnnie O’Fallon, Harold Kuphaldt, David Wise and Floyd Hamirck. Honorary pallbearer is Chris O’Fallon.
Her family will hold a traditional celebration of life for 40 days after Deborah’s passing, contact Julia Cooper for further details. Arrangements entrusted to the Alaska Cook Inlet Funeral Services and Crematory.
Deborah was born Nov. 11, 1958, in Anchorage. She attended schools in the Anchorage and Chugiak areas and received her GED. She graduated from the Hair Academy and worked as a hairdresser in several salons in the Anchorage area. She was an avid hunter and fisher her whole life. She enjoyed crocheting and cooking, spending time with family and friends. She traveled all over the United States and resided in Greeley, Colo., for a short time. She was a member of the Native Village of Eklutna and shareholder to Eklutna Inc. and CIRI. Her family said they will miss her big heart, adventurous spirit and her beautiful smile.
Her family selected the following quote from Helen Keller: “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart.”
Surviving are her parents, Clevey and Julia Cooper; brother, Charlie and wife Amy Cooper; nieces, Carmen Williams, Bonnie Jimenez, Melissa Jones, Jessica Ross and Desirre Cooper; nephews, William Jones, Gary Cooper and Dakota Cooper.
Preceding her in death was her sister, Julie Jones.
The family expressed special thanks to Cook Inlet Funeral Services and Crematory, Anchorage Native Assembly of God, Pastor Eldon Hicks, Johnnie O’Fallon, Eleanor Wilde, Charlie Cooper, Jessica Ross, Bonnie Jimenez, Melissa Jones, Carmen Williams and Billie-Jean Koso.
