Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Della Rae Fannin, 59, passed away March 1, 2014, at her home in Sutton.
Della was born Aug.7, 1954, in Kodiak to Vern and Katherine Fannin. She spent most of her younger life in Kodiak and graduated from Kodiak High School. In Kodiak, Della attended summer camps with the Kodiak Baptist Church almost every summer. She traveled through Alaska, residing in Anchorage and Sutton. Della was a retired business owner, she co-owned her own catering business named “Afternoon Delight” with Linda Lou Larsen. Della had a passion for cooking, gardening, collecting Alaska artifacts and fishing.
Della was always the life of every party. She always had a good time enjoying life. She had the biggest heart, always willing to help someone in need. She truly cared about the people she loved and her animals. We are truly going to miss her beautiful smile and contagious laugh that was always lifting our spirits.
Surviving are her sisters, Cynthia Wansor of Sutton and Bonnie Fannin of Anchorage; brothers, Drew Fannin of Wasilla and Gerald LaFollette of Kodiak; nephews, Eric Wansor of Sutton, Jerry LaFollette Jr. of Seattle, Wash.; niece, Melissa Wansor of Sutton; great-nieces, Kaylee Stokes of Sutton and Madison Dringenberg of Sutton; and her longtime companion, Carol Ann Miller of Sutton.
In lieu of flowers, please make donation to her memorial fund under account No. 55361 at Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union, under her sister Cynthia Wansor’s name.
Services are at 1 p.m., March 15 at Kehl’s Palmer Mortuary. Later, the family will spread her ashes in Kodiak.
