On April 27, 2017, Denis (Denny) Wilde, age 80 lost her 11 year battle with Alzheimer’s in Portland, Oregon. Memorial Service will be July 15, 2017, at St Mark’s Episcopal Church in Moscow, Idaho.
Denny was a Mat-Su resident from 1965 – 2001 and enjoyed raising her children in Wasilla and being involved in the community. Denny was awarded the “Alaska School System Volunteer of the Year” in 1981. Honoring her parents and her childhood experience as a POW she was an active lifetime member of the American Ex-POW Association. After the kids left for college Denny went to work as the Office Manager for Wasilla Refuse. She retired in 1998 and became a grandma for the first time in 1999.
She and Tom met in high school in Moscow and were married for 59 years. She loved kids and animals, and enjoyed traveling, classical music, gardening, holiday crafting with friends, and all kinds of creative handiwork. She enjoyed life and liked to laugh. She made and treasured many lifelong friendships from her years in Wasilla.
Denny is survived by her husband Tom, daughter Lynne, son Michael, brother Garry, sister Lenore, and three granddaughters: Gabrielle and Isabelle Wilde, and Kathryn Luu.
