Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Lifelong Alaskan Dennis Buzby passed away peacefully on Oct. 23, 2015, in Palmer with his family by his side.
Born in the Territory, Dennis grew up in Fairbanks and Palmer, where he operated the Buzby sawmill with his father, Robert, and built log homes throughout his life. He was an avid outdoorsman and big game guide for the Buzby Hunting Lodges out of Fairbanks and farmed in the Mat-Su Valley with his family. After moving permanently to Palmer, Dennis worked for Hermon Brothers Construction Company and later retired from the Heavy Equipment Operators Union Local 302. He served his country in the US Army and belonged to the Fraternal Order of the Moose. After retirement, he spent his time hunting, fishing, doting on grandchildren, and helping others.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Ann; children, Bruce, Mark and Helen; four awesome grandchildren that he loved dearly; his charming and witty sister Alice; and mother Mildred (Tiny).
He was preceded in death by his father, Bob, and brothers Bill and Ed.
Dennis is well loved by his friends and family and will be missed by those who knew him.
