Devon Jace Tucker, 24, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Wasilla, on Nov. 21, 2013.

A celebration of Devon’s life is from 4 to 6 p.m., Dec. 4 at Janssen’s Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E. St., Anchorage, with Clark Hopp as the officiant.

Devon was born March 27, 1989 in Anchorage. His love of the outdoors kept him close to home in his beloved state. During his short time with us he touched many lives. Devon’s capacity for love was far beyond this world. If you knew him, you knew how big his love and friendship was. His hugs were so big you could feel him all the way through you.

He had a big, gregarious laugh, infectious to all those around him. He loved his family and his friends; he never forgot a birthday.

His needs were simple. He loved nothing more than hanging out with family and friends watching movies and eating just about anything he didn’t have to fix. And although somewhat new to him, he was engaged to a young woman, Cassie Fowner, with a 4-year old daughter, Millie. Devon loved to be called daddy by her and you can see this in their photos. He loved children and for such a short time, he experienced the joys of becoming a husband and father, something he had always wanted.

Devon was an avid reader and devoured any book he could get his hands on. He loved anything, from Westerns, sci-fi and fantasy to comedy. He also had a great love of the outdoors. Fishing was his greatest passion! He also enjoyed snowmachining, horseback riding, boating, hunting and four-wheeling.

Survivors include his mother, Wendy Tucker; father, John Lewis; grandparents, Earl and Judy Tucker; uncle, Stephen Tucker; aunt, Lisa Sindorf; cousins, Kristofer and Jonathan Sindorf; grandparents, Gioconda and Jack Lewis; aunt, Angelina Lewis Kauffold; cousins, Cherrimarie Lewis and Richard Kauffold; godparents, Bob and Terry Ribelin; great-aunt and uncle, Juanita and Andre Chovanak; cousin, Cathy Chovanak Ransier; and Cassie and Millie.

The family requests all donations to be sent to MY House at myhousemstsu.org. Arrangements are with Janssen Funeral Homes.
