Permanent Fund Dividend payments will start rolling out Sept. 20, about three weeks earlier than the usual payment date in October, Gov. Mike Dunleavy announced July 15.
The payments of about $3,200 will be in a single amount, combining a special “energy” impact payment and the normal annual dividend. Alaskans requesting direct deposit to bank accounts will be paid first with those asking for a paper check will be paid beginning Oct. 3.
About 78,000 Alaskans filed for this year’s dividend.
“This year’s record-size dividend couldn’t have come at a more important time,” the governor said. “Alaskans, especially in rural communities, will have to pay extraordinarily high fuel and heating oil bills this winter, and rampant inflation is forcing all Alaskan families to pay more for basic needs, like food and medicine,” Dunleavy said.
