Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Donald E. (Don) Bennett, 68, of Wasilla and a winter resident of Arizona, died on Feb. 28, 2014, at Hospice Family Care in Casa Grande.
He was born on Feb. 13, 1946, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and was a son of Albert E. and Murray Griffiths Bennett.
He served four years in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was an engineer for the city of Anchorage, and retired after 30-plus years. A life member of Good Sam RV Club, he was Alaska State Director for four years.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Carol Ann; son, Eric Bennett of Tempe, Arizona; daughter, Kathryn Russell of Anchorage; brother, Douglas Bennett of Hawaii; sister, Patricia Cuttle of Hendersonville, North Carolina; and two grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was a brother, Michael Bennett, and his parents.
