Donald S. Lambert, proud Cajun, devoted loving husband, and loving father of five, died peacefully in his sleep Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, at his home in Palmer, Alaska, where he resided for the last five years. A “Celebration of Life” gathering for Don is taking place at Palmer Senior Center from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 24. All are invited.

Mr. Lambert was born Dec. 26, 1938. He was a native of French Settlement, Louisiana. He lived, worked, married and started raising a family in Louisiana until 1974, when he relocated to Alaska with his wife and kids.

They soon started work with the Anchorage School District. Don had to take early retirement from the school job due to a heart condition. He took it on himself to take work with newly opened Dimond Center Mall, where he worked until he retired in 2004.

He grew to love Alaska, but he never forgot his Southeast Louisiana roots. He was a lifelong LSU and Saints fan. He loved people, good food and music, especially Elvis. Some of his interests were gardening, camping, hunting, bowling, bingo and some slots or lotteries. He always liked the idea of winning at them.

Mr. Lambert was preceded in death by his parents, Onel and Lillian Murphy Lambert; his wife, Beverly Humphreys Lambert; his sister, Elaine Ingram; his brother, Joseph Davis; and son, John Daniel.

He is survived by his sons Joseph David and Don Steven; daughters, Margie Pillsbury and Elizabeth Dennis; his sister, Margaret Racca; son-in-law, Antonio Escobar; as well as five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Palmer Senior Center’s Adult Day Service, Mat-Su Regional Medical Center staff, Heart Institute staff, Mat-Su Home Health Nurses, and Alzheimer’s Resources of Alaska for all their support and care during the final years of Donald’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one of these agencies or to your local service providers.

Angelus Memorial Cemetery will inter Mr. Lambert in the spring. A burial announcement will be published at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Legacy Funeral Home, Heritage Chapel at Angelus. Please visit the guest book that has been created at www.legacyalaska.com.
