Dorothy Mae Anderson Butch died May 16, 2012, at the Anchorage Pioneer Home.

She was born in Shell Lake, Wisc., to Chris and Grace (Morson) Anderson and came to Alaska with her parents as part of the Matanuska Colony project in 1935. She attended Palmer and Anchorage schools and married Phillip Butch in 1944. They had seven children.

She was a member of the Palmer Moose Lodge, the Moose Camper Club and the Mat Valley Colony Kids.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Merle (Chris), and Byron (Barney); and son, Tommy.

Surviving are her children Wayne (Linda), Gary (Melissa), Tami Cocklin, Steve, Tony, Chrissie (John) Wise; eight grandsons; five granddaughters; two great-granddaughters and one due in October; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Anderson, wife of the late Byron Anderson; and many, many nephews and nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m., May 22 at 11621 Old Seward Highway. For more information, contact Mary Ann Anderson at 745-4749.
