Dr. George Johnson

Dr. George Johnson, a longtime Alaska dentist, died July 8. He was 54. He was born Dec. 29, 1954 in Quebec.

A native of Canada, George immigrated to the United States when he was 8 years old. He was an excellent student and graduated cum laude from West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree and then graduated with honors from West Virginia Dental School. He then served eight years in the Air Force. He was stationed in Croatia for several years as a dentist.

George was a talented dentist who was loved by his patients and staff. For the past year he worked at the Alaska Center for Dentistry and was previously at the Mat-Su Dental Office.

George may be best remembered for his eagerness to learn and try new things. He had been learning Spanish, French, German and piano at the time of his death. His hobbies included photography, theater and travel. George was also an avid jazz fan and could often be found at concerts around the world. He was a patron of the arts and frequently made donations to the Anchorage Performing Arts Center. George was also a caring, loving, thoughtful husband and father. He loved animals and could often be seen walking his dog, Chloe, around his neighborhood.

His father, Clement Siamard, preceded him in death. Johnson is survived by his wife, Irina Johnson, and step-daughter, Katya Batilova of Anchorage, mother AnnaMae Siamard and siblings David Siamard, Peter Siamard, Jocelyne Majoy, Cladette Siamard, Annette Siamard and Denis Siamard.
