Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Dustin Bradley Proctor, 29, of the Mat-Su Valley and Anchorage, died peacefully in his home May 2, 2011.
He was a loving father and friend.
Dustin was born in Mount Vernon, Wash., Dec. 14, 1981, to Bradley Proctor and Jolene Arendse. He moved to Alaska at age 4 and attended school in Nome and the Mat-Su Valley and considered the Mat-Su Valley his home. Dustin worked as a concrete mason and was very proud of his work.
“He loved his family, friends, poetry, drawing, music and spending time with his son, Justice,” his family wrote. “Dustin impacted many lives. He was always willing to lend a hand and very giving. Family and friends will miss his smile and silly laugh, and he will be in our hearts forever.”
Dustin is survived by his son, Justice Proctor; mother, Jolene Arendse, father, Bradley Proctor; grandmothers, Dixie Proctor and Johanna Arendse; sister, Brandy Proctor; brother-in-law, Andra Ashby; nephew, Avery Ashby; niece, Kilynn Ashby; aunt and uncle, Jay and Peggy Daw; along with many cousins, aunts and uncles.
Preceding him in death were his grandfathers, Doug Proctor and Jack Arendse.
Dustin was a member of Church on the Rock in Wasilla. A memorial service and reception is at the Church on the Rock from 3 to 5 p.m., May 12.
Arrangements were by Cremation Society of Alaska.
