E. Evelyn Beeson McIntyre passed away June 9, 2013, at her home in WasillA. It was a glorious, sunny day in Alaska, a wonderful day to go home at last. Evelyn was 93 years old.

Evelyn was born May 24, 1920, in Gooding, Idaho, to Roy and Lois Beeson. She grew up in the Boise Valley. Evelyn married Ross McIntyre in 1946, and they lived most of their married life in Chiloquin, Ore. They retired “home” to the Boise Valley, where Evelyn stayed until the passing of her husband in 2004, after which she lived in College Place, Wash., with daughter Joyce, then Wasilla with daughter Lois and family. Evelyn lived the last seven years of her life as an Alaskan, bringing change and adventure to her life in fun and unexpected ways.

Evelyn was a peaceful, quiet woman of strong faith in God. She was a member of the Friends Church and was often seen reading her Bible. She loved children, flowers, birds, nature and the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Evelyn was interested in many things and read the newspaper daily, always working the crossword puzzle and keeping up on current events. She read books by the dozens and took a college computer class in her 80s. It took years before anyone in the family could beat her in a game of Scrabble. She loved to sew, quilt, crochet and embroider, and leaves behind many hand-made projects for her family to cherish.

Evelyn was preceded in death by husband, Ross McIntyre; siblings, Pearl Birch, Mary Pruitt, Wesley Beeson; and granddaughter, Karirose Nichols.

Evelyn is survived by siblings, Robert Beeson and Hazel Tuning; children, Joyce Beecroft, Douglas and Dianna McIntyre, Helenrose and Gary Nichols, and Lois and Ross Epperson; grandchildren, Kandee and Don Hoppen, Kati Stocke, Nate and Kim McIntyre, Nick McIntyre, Kellie McIntyre, Hannah Epperson, and Luke and Cindy Epperson; and great-grandchildren, Andrew, Megan, Brittani, Abigail, Carson, Eli, Calum, Seth and Dietrich. Also important in Evelyn’s life were her many in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins and family friends.

Idaho memorial service will be held at Meridian Friends Church, Meridian, Idaho, on Monday, June 17, 10 a.m. Alaska memorial service will be held at Wasilla Senior Center on Sunday, June 23, 2 p.m.
