Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Lifelong Alaskan and longtime Valley resident Edgar M. Leslie, died June 15, 2015, at his mother’s home in Anchorage, after a long battle with illness.
He was born Feb. 25, 1953, oldest child to William H. and Marlene D. Leslie. He grew up in Turnagain and graduated from West Anchorage High School in 1973. He attended college in Colorado. After moving back to Alaska, he married Elizabeth Buwalda. They moved to the Valley in 1982 and started an excavating business. Edgar was also a realtor who worked for Century 21, and later a school bus driver. He enjoyed remote-controlled cars.
He is survived by his sister, Eileen Leslie, of Palmer; two nephews, Christopher Coleman and Caleb Coleman, both of Anchorage; and grand-niece Caitlyn Gail Alley of Anchorage.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Gail Leslie; his wife, Elizabeth Leslie; father, William H. Leslie; and mother, Marlene D. Leslie.
A memorial service is at 4 p.m., July 8, at Kehl’s Palmer Mortuary, 209 S. Alaska St., Palmer.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
