Edith Csajtay Forstner, 96, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2024 at her home in Palmer, Alaska, three weeks after her husband Edward's passing and just shy of their 74th wedding anniversary.

Born in Pápa, Hungary on May 28, 1928 to Margit and Francis Forstner, Edith married Edward Andrew Forstner on September 30, 1950. Edith had built a career as a competitive gymnast for Hungary.

Following the revolution in 1956, the Forster’s fled Hungary and settled near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with their five children. Edith and Edward moved to a log home in the Fishhook built by their sons in 1982; a sanctuary homestead after a life of hardship and loss from war.

Edith was happiest hosting family gatherings where she shared her Hungarian recipes made with “lots and lots of love”. Her sassy sense of humor, hardworking attitude, and unconditional love remain unforgettable.

A funeral Mass will be held September 18 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wasilla, Alaska, with inurnment following immediately after at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
