Edith Julia “Edie” Bradburn of Wasilla passed away Oct. 22, 2013, of cancer.
Edie was born Oct. 15, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas, where she graduated from high school in 1973. In 1978, she joined the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in April 1988. In December 1988, she married her beloved Wm. “Buck” Bradburn, who was lovingly by her side at the time of her passing. They lived in Trapper Creek for many years before moving to Wasilla, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Surviving are her devoted and loving husband Wm. “Buck” Bradburn of Wasilla; cousins, Hans Crump and Fritz Crump of Texas; and her faithful cat, “Miffy,” of the family home.
Preceding her in death were her parents; stepfather; and aunt.
She also leaves behind dear friends, many of whom were made while she battled her illness, which she came to view as a gift. Edie was cherished by all who knew her.
Edie had reluctantly retired due to her illness from her position of administrative assistant for a contractor at Fort Richardson Air Force base in Anchorage. She loved her job and took great pride in her abilities.
Edie’s interests included animal welfare and fraternal organizations. Edie enjoyed good food, good friends and always had a kind word and a smile. In memory of Edie, the family asks that donations be made to the Mat-Su Animal Shelter in lieu of flowers.
A celebration of life is at 3 p.m., Nov. 3 at Christ First United Methodist Church in Wasilla with a potluck to follow. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory LLC.
