Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Edmond E. “Ed” Roy, 78, died Oct. 20, 2007, of natural causes at Golden Pond Assisted Home Living in Big Lake. No services are planned.
Roy was born Sept. 20, 1929, in Cortland, N.Y. He was retired from the public school district, where he had lived and worked as a custodian in Sutton. He was educated as a locksmith and enjoyed collecting stamps and coins.
Roy was a kind and loving person with a wonderful sense of humor and many friends. He loved to play poker and collect stamps. He will be missed by those whose lives he so graciously touched.
Roy is survived by his mother-in-law, Nona Smith of Sequim, Wash.; brother, Marty (Frieda) Laylor of Portland, Ore.; daughter, Laura Larion of Port Angeles, Wash.; and four grandsons in South Carolina, Michigan, California and Washington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie, in 2005.
Arrangements are with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory.
