Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Edward (Ed) Le Bon, 81, died June 9, 2012, in Wasilla after a battle with cancer. He had lived in Wasilla for the past 25 years.
A celebration of life and potluck is at 2 p.m., July 15, at AMVETS Post 9 in Wasilla.
He was born May 13, 1931, in Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. He was educated in Southern California. He achieved five years of college at Pasadena City College and University of Southern California.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army. He was in Korea from 1952-53 as part of the 8th Army Signal Corp. He installed and repaired radios and receivers in tanks and offices in the field.
He was a mechanical/electrician engineer for 17 years. He worked for Houston Fearless and its subsidiary image systems, Angstrom and other companies in the 1960s and ’70s. He then went back to college to become a Realtor. He worked for Century 21 and Bruce Mulhearn Realty for a total of 14 years in Southern California.
Ed was a member of Moose Lodge No. 1534 in Anchorage. He is a life member of AMVETS Post No. 9 in Wasilla.
Ed loved old cars, hunting, fishing, camping, rocking hounding, exploring historical sites, photography, square dancing, country western and ballroom dancing.
He leaves his wife of 43 years, Mattie Le Bon; his only child and son, Lyle Le Bon and wife, Karen; granddaughters, Chantal and Alison of Wasilla and Ashley Morley of Eugene, Ore. He also leaves many friends and dancing partners.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Francis H. Le Bon and Geneva E. (Smith) Le Bon.
