Edwin Earl Stultz, 89, passed away at home on Thursday, August 11, 2016, in Wasilla, Alaska. Ed was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Edward Earl and Louise Evans Stultz. He and his mother moved to California when he was about 12. Ed joined the Merchant Marines at 17 and sailed the Pacific during WWII. After the Merchant Marines, he worked in the logging industry for a few years, was an excellent mechanic (he could fix anything) and as an able bodied seaman worked the tug boats for several years. He worked in the salvage industry for many years and was a powerhouse operator on Amchitka Island. He loved many things, like playing poker, panning and dredging for gold, which is what brought him to Alaska in the early 60’s before the big earthquake of 1964. Ed loved life! He always had a vision and had all kinds of projects going on. He never stopped planning all the way up to the day he passed. Ed will be missed and never forgotten; he will live in the hearts of the people who knew him. A Celebration of Life with family and close friends was held at his home in Wasilla on Sunday, August 14th. In the words of Ed: Keep your powder dry… catch you further up the creek! Ed is survived by longtime companion, Nancy Hendricks (Wasilla); daughter, Maxine (Jim) Burns (Balch Springs, Texas); grandsons, David (Lea) Elkins (Kemp, Texas), Michael Ross (Rowlett, Texas); son, Dave Owens (Wasilla); grandchildren Linsey (Ken) Gert (Portland, Oregon), Richard (Ardena) Owens (Palmer), Vanessa (Jason) Miller (Petersberg), Camilla (Colton) Lee (Palmer), Ashleigh Owens (Minneapolis, Minnesota), and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents Edward and Louise Stultz; sisters, Juanita Campbell and Eula Downing; wives, Mary Joan Williams Todd, Irene Cecchi Stultz and great-grandson, Anthony Elkins.
