Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Born Eleanor Alice Clay on Oct. 19, 1934, she was the youngest of seven siblings.
She met and married Marvin Schmidt in 1953, and in 1968 they moved from Minnesota to Alaska. They made a home full of love in Chugiak, until moving to Wasilla in 1981.
Eleanor had a life full of family, camping, fishing, hunting and gardening. The seasons’ changing colors were always most happy times, until the Feb. 5, 2016, when she passed away from her battle with cancer.
She is survived by three sons, Elton, Jeff and Chris.
People may pay their respects between from 1-3 p.m. Feb. 13, 2016, at Legacy Funeral Homes, 1015 S. Check St., along Knik Goose Bay Rd.
