Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Elinor “Ellie” I. Scott, 79, a longtime resident of Alaska, passed away on Oct. 24, 2014, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer.
She was born on Dec. 27, 1935, in Boise, Idaho.
Ellie and her husband, Ray Scott, lived an adventurer’s life in the Mat-Su Valley area, serving the tourism of Alaska. Longtime bartender in the Mat-Su Valley, Ellie enjoyed fishing and other outdoor activities. She loved all animals, especially wolves. “Ellie loved people and the outdoors. Her favorite place was the Oregon Coast. She spent her younger years walking on the beach hunting for glass balls. Ellie always saw the good in everyone and will be missed by everyone who knew her.” Surviving are her husband, Ray; and her children, Glenna, Shauna, Sherrie and Virgil.
A celebration of life is at noon to 4 p.m., Nov. 15 at the Bodenburg Butte Baptist Church. Family will scatter her remains in Tillamook, Oregon.
