Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Sutton resident Elizabeth Ann Bartholomew, 66, died at home June 1, 2008.
A family viewing and visitation was June 4 at Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel in Wasilla, followed by cremation. No formal services are planned. Family and friends are welcome to attend a gathering at the family home at 1 p.m. Friday, June 6 in Sutton.
Bartholomew was born Dec. 1, 1941, in Meridian, Miss., to Walter and Lois (Avant) Smith. She moved to Alaska in 1968, was married to William Bartholomew March 20, 1970, and moved to Sutton in 1977.
Her family stated: “She loved Alaska and considered it her home. She loved and enjoyed her family. She devoted her life to serving the Lord, and many people relied on Liz for prayer.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters.
Survivors are her husband, Bill Bartholomew; daughter and son-in-law Donna and Len Roofe; sons and daughters-in-law Wayne and Dawn Bell, and Brandon and Jamie Bartholomew; grandchildren Amber, Brandy, Kim, Kevin, Tiffaney, Brittaney, Alicia, Arranna, Angelie, Aubrie, Cyrene and Savanna; and great-grandchildren McKenzie and Hailey.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
