Elke Alayne (Thompson) Carter passed away on September 15th, 2018 in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 41. Elke was born on May 16th, 1977 to Mark and Judy Thompson in Anchorage, Alaska. She graduated from Palmer High School in 1996 and built a successful career in the commercial insurance industry. Elke was an extremely talented pianist and singer, often treating her family to a song on her baby grand piano. In addition to being a musician, Elke was a natural gardener. She worked diligently on her garden and produced award-winning flowers, even after having to chase moose and black bears away.

Elke was the type that was naturally good at all things. She was beautiful, creative, and intelligent and had an unmatched wit that would leave you laughing until it hurt. Her big heart and one of a kind humor always made her the life of the party. She was loving and caring in all of her roles; wife, daughter and friend but her true source of joy was found in being a mother. Her children meant the world to her and she was immensely proud of them. Her beautiful soul and smile will be deeply missed by so many.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Ryan Carter, and their four children: Ethan Thompson, Payton, Preston and Lauren Carter. She is also survived by her loving parents, Mark and Judy Thompson, brothers Mike Thompson and Marty Thompson and their families, aunt Lisa Ruiter and many cousins, nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 22nd, 2018 at the Palmer Christian Church located at 12850 Scott Road in Palmer. The service will begin at 2:00pm and all family and friends are welcome to attend.
