Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident Ellen Anne Valley, 63, died Nov. 17, 2008 at her home.
A service was held on Nov. 29 at the Sunny Knik Chapel. A graveside service was held Dec. 3.
Pallbearers were Jerry Valley, Daniel Valley, Nick Pesterkoff, Tim Matson, Paul LaShure and Steve Hensley.
Ellen was born Dec. 2, 1944 in New Jersey. She received her high school diploma and got her masters degree in college.
Ellen has been a resident in Wasilla for 11 years and previously in Kodiak Island for 37 years.
She has had multiple jobs as a bookkeeper, cashier and a taxi driver.
Her family wrote:” Ellen was a beautiful, caring, fun mother who was very intelligent and loving.”
She is survived by her daughter Reina Matson, son Daniel W. Valley, grandchildren Paul LaShure and his wife Amanda, Patricia LaShure, Aaron Matson-LaShure, Kyle Matson-LaShure, great-grandchildren Eden P. LaShure, sisters Brandy and Mindy, nieces, nephews and their families.
Preceded in death by her granddaughter Amanda P. LaShure.
Arrangements were with Kehl’s Palmer Mortuary.
