Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Longtime Alaskan resident Mrs. Ellen Francis Lizotte, 98, passed away on Sept. 27, 2014, in Palmer at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.
Celebration of life is at 1 p.m., Oct. 11, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Mile 67 Parks Highway in Willow. Father Andrew will officiate at the service.
Ellen was born Sept. 27, 1916, in Dayton, Washington, and moved to Alaska in 1962 where she met and married her husband, Ray Lizotte, of 52 years. They then moved to Willow in 1979 and have lived there ever since. She worked as a waitress at numerous restaurants in Anchorage and retired from that in 1979. She loved church and the people there. Ellen loved gardening (vegetable and flowers) and being a housewife.
Ray said, “she was a perfect human being” who loved to have people over; she loved being center of attention. She was an excellent cook and homemaker. She enjoyed traveling including Europe and other destinations in the Lower 48. She loved her two dogs.
Surviving are her husband, Ray Lizotte of Willow; nephew, James and (Lisa) Taylor of Berkely, California; and niece, Alison and (Joseph) Daniel of Danville, California.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sisters, Betty Taylor and Jenny VonStrellnauer; and brother, John Dolish.
