Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Longtime valley resident, E.A. “Lenard” passed away July 11 in Roseburg, Oregon.
He was born in Somerset, Colorado, to Jean and Herschell Lenard on Oct. 13, 1942. He was raised in Nevada and moved to the Palmer area after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 to 1965.
Lenard retired from Alaska Department of Corrections in 1990, and spent several years working as the Chief of Security at the Alaska State Fair, at Ron Harvey’s Motorcycle Shop, on private security details, and also as a dance instructor.
Surviving are his wife Angie (Ralston) of Palmer; children, Jill (Billy) Roundtree of Nevada, Luke Lenard of Arizona, Melanie (Richard) Bane of California, and Crystal Lenard of Nevada; step-daughter, Elizabeth (Daniel) Potter of Palmer; siblings, Clinton (Sherry) Lenard, Florence (Jim) Bruce, Linda Jensen, Jackie (John) Benson, Lloyd Hunt, and Cammie (Earl) Baze; as well as eight grandchildren.
A potluck celebration of life is at 3 p.m., Oct. 13, at VFW post 9365, 301 E. Lake View Ave., Wasilla.
