A Celebration of Life will be held July 30, 2016, from 2-6 pm, at the Chugiak Senior Center. Emily passed away on July 7, 2016.

Emily was born to Julius and Alvina(Vacknatz) Golder in Rib Lake Wisconsin, on January 13, 1929. She was raised on a farm with 17 siblings. At the age of 16 she moved to Chicago and worked as a telephone operator for 7 years. She and her five children moved from Nevada to Chugiak Alaska, in 1965. She began working for the Anchorage School District doing custodial work at the schools in the Eagle River-Chugiak area for 20 years. During her retirement, Emily met many wonderful people at the Chugiak Senior Day Care, where she also enjoyed many activities. She loved to play Bingo, Farkle and listen to Ziggy. During the time she was able, she lent a helping hand, volunteered at the Center and Sunday school. Emily also enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Mexico, Arizona, and many other states. She was a wonderful caring, mother, and friend. She was kind, compassionate, cared deeply for family and friends, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. Emily is survived by her sister Shirley (Ardin) Wiitala, brother Pete Golder, sons, her very dear friend Rachel Paunic, sons Wayne (Debbie)Halcomb, GaryHalcomb(Jacqueline Moslander), Wesley Halcomb, daughter Brenda (Wade) Charles, Grandchildren, Israel Halcomb , Angela (Victor) Casanova, Kari(Yhon) Rendon, Kristina(Robert) Cupples, and 6 Great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Morgan, Kendalyn, Haden, Abigail Casanova, and Isabella Rendon. She was preceded in death by her parents and 15 siblings, dearly loved son, Ralph Halcomb, and husband Melvin Halcomb.

Arrangements are with Janssen’s Eagle River Funeral Home.
