Erin Elizabeth Adkins
Erin Elizabeth Adkins was born December 29th, 1960 in Ogden, Utah to William and Carla Jean Lovitt Adkins. Erin was raised with her siblings, David and Nancy, and later on with her step siblings, Jon, Juli and Kathy.
Being raised in an engineering family, Erin’s childhood took place across the continental US and overseas; from Roselle, Illinois to as far as Kuwait.
As a young woman, Erin earned her Associates Degree at Boise State University and transferred to Northern Michigan University in Marquette to be near her father. There she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration & Management.
Upon graduating she started out to Long Beach, California in her grandmother’s car for a short two years. Finally, in 1986, Erin took a ferry boat to Alaska where she would make herself a “mountain woman” for the next thirty-five years. Her careers took her to Bethel, Dillingham, Valdez, McCarthy, Anchorage and Palmer.
Erin settled her home in Palmer, Alaska where she lived happily with her dog, Bella. When she wasn’t working, she was hiking, fishing or roughing it in her McCarthy cabin. She loved to plan sunlit vacations to take her father on. They fared on cruises to the Caribbean, explored Havana, and toured the Mexican Riviera.
Erin fostered a giving spirit and loved to share the depths of her soul to those around her. She unexpectedly passed away December 9th, in Cozumel, Mexico. Erin will be joining her mother Carla, grandmother Alpha, and sister Allison.
She is survived by her Father, William Adkins; siblings, David Adkins, Nancy Adkins Hoskins; step siblings, Jon Beck, Juli Baye, Kathy Bescheta and a host of other family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held for Erin in McCarthy this next summer.
