Ernestine Turner Pierce

Ernestine Turner Pierce, 84, formerly of Mayfield, Ky., passed away Jan. 31 at Northern Living assisted living.

Ernestine worked for the Mayfield Merit Clothing Company for 30 years, from 1943 to 1973 where she was affectionately known as “Blondie” to her co-workers. She was a member of Church of Christ North Side.

Ernestine, born and raised in Mayfield, moved to Paducah, Ky., in 1997. In 2007, she moved to Wasilla to be with her only son, Gary. Being outdoors with nature in Alaska brought her peace and tranquility. She was able to do the two things she loved most — fishing and camping with her family.

She is survived by her only son Gary, and daughter-in-law Nancey Easley Pierce; three grandsons, Brett Pierce, Jackie Easley and Steven Easley; one granddaughter, Erin Pierce Stricklin; one great-granddaughter, Isabella Stricklin; one great-grandson, Colten Easley; her brother Wayne Turner and his wife Fanny.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 30 years Joseph (Joe) O. Pierce, her brother, Roy Turner and her parents Jim Turner and Alice Sanderson Turner.

There will be graveside services at Calvary Methodist Church Cemetery at a later date.
