Errol Lynn Hoover (67), a Vietnam veteran passed away quietly at home the morning of Nov. 11, 2017, after a long battle with cancer in Wasilla, Alaska. A fitting day, as Lynn was a proud Army veteran. After enlisting in the United States Army he served two tours in Vietnam. Lynn was in Alaska when he was discharged from the Army and his love for Alaska made him decide to make it his final home.

He was born on Aug. 15, 1950, in Dubois, Pennsylvania, to Robert Hoover and Eileen (Hatten) Knox. In his early years he lived a dangerous, and hard life, earning his nickname “Rebel Lynn” which he had tattooed on his arm. Although he did some wild things, he knew God well and had made his peace.

Lynn was a single father to his three sons Daniel, Jeremiah, and Adam for most of their lives as they lost their mother at a young age. With his three sons he leaves behind eight beautiful grandchildren. All of which were able to bless him with an abundance of joy before he passed.

Lynn is preceded in death by his step father, Ernest Knox.

He is survived by his loving Mother (Eileen Knox), four brothers (Bob, Steve, John and Ken) and one sister (Leslie Eddy). He also leaves behind numerous other family and friends whose lives he impacted in ways he may not have known, but they will never forget.

You will truly be missed and loved forever Sgt. Hoover. May God rest your soul in peace.

Celebration of Life in memory of Lynn will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 at Sunny Knik Chapel – 10774 S. Knik Goose Bay Road in Wasilla, Alaska. Pastor Duane Guisinger will be officiating.Arrangements cared for by Janssen’s Mat-Su Funeral Home.
