Fay Jewett

Fay Liddy Jewett, 69, was born July 20, 1938 in Pe Ell, Wash., and passed away peacefully Nov. 17, 2007, in her home.

She is preceded was death by her parents, brother and two half sisters. She is survived by her 91-year-old brother Earnest (Liddy Hesse) May of Aberdeen, Wash. Jewett was the youngest of five in a dual family.

Jewett is also survived by her husband of 49 years, James M. Jewett of Wasilla and four children born to them: Marie Jewett, Robert Jewett of Wasilla, Tamii Laneville of Wasilla and Susan Botkin of Salem, Ore.; as well as 16 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and countless extended family.

Fay and James Jerett were married in Snohomish, Wash., in 1958 and lived in several places in Washington and Oregon before moving to Ketchikan in 1970. They then moved to Fairbanks in 1976, and in 1977 to Wasilla, which had been their home since.

Jewett attended the Family Christian Center in Palmer. She had a heart bigger than gold, giving generously to anyone in need. Crocheting, knitting, quilting and blankets have blessed the needy including the homeless, unwed mothers, prisoners, veterans, missionaries and their causes at home and around the world.

Gifts or donations can be made to the Alaskan Prison Ministries in care of Chaplain Paul Riley of Palmer.

There will be a memorial service 2 p.m. Nov. 23 at Family Christian Center in Palmer.

Valley Funeral Homes and Crematory of Wasilla and Palmer assisted the family.
