Faye Eileen Erwin

Faye Eileen Erwin, 78, died Dec.14, 2012, at her daughter’s home in Peter’s Creek.

A service is at 5 p.m., Dec. 28 at Janssen’s Eagle River Funeral Home, 16421 Brooks Loop Road, Eagle River. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the home of Dave and Sue Walker in Peter’s Creek. Burial will take place in late spring 2013 at Fort Richardson National Cemetery. Faye will be laid to rest with her husband of more than 60 years, Charles, who preceded her in death.

Faye was born Feb. 1, 1934, in Cadillac, Mich., to John and Lillian Samenski. She graduated from Cadillac High School in 1952. She married Charles Erwin on March 22, 1952, in Cadillac. Faye was a military wife and the Air Force brought her, along with her husband and five children, to Alaska in 1970. She moved back to Cadillac in 1991, but returned to Alaska in 2009 to be near her family.

Faye enjoyed family gatherings and camping trips, homemaking and collecting mouse figurines, and she loved her dog Maxi. In her quiet time, she enjoyed watching the soaps, reading and doing crossword puzzles.

Her family wrote: “Faye’s kind heart made her an angel on earth and she will be missed by all those who knew her.”

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Dusty and Dianna Erwin of Wasilla; son and daughter-in-law, James and Sandra Erwin of Wasilla; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Dave Walker of Peter’s Creek; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Donnie Cunningham of Kennewick, Washington; son, John Erwin of Wasilla; her sisters, Dorothy Leineke and Jeri Dean of Cadillac, Mich.; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all residing in Alaska.
