Longtime resident of Palmer, Ernest Clayton Lamb, 73, died at home of cancer on Feb. 15, 2007.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Palmer. He was born Dec. 11, 1933, in Tempe, Ariz. He loved Alaska and called it home, having moved here with his wife and family in 1976.
He enjoyed life and loved trying new enterprises and challenges often.
His occupations in life were many, but in later years, he worked as a computer programmer and in real estate, land development and building homes.
He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served many callings as well as bishop of the Palmer 2nd Ward from 1985-1990. He also served five missions for the church.
His family wrote, “Ernest touched many lives with his wisdom, kindness and generous heart. His love for his wife, family and friends was unmatchable. Always a friend to everyone he met, he was a true inspiration to us all and will be greatly missed.”
He is survived by his wife, Hutoka; two sons, Shane and his wife Erin of Palmer, and Lance and his wife Mandi of Anchorage; daughter, Loa, living in Orem, Utah; stepmother and father, Edith and Gilbert Lamb of St. George, Utah; stepfather, Robert Spiering of Arizona; four children from a previous marriage, Shaundra and her husband Rick Lunore of Gig Harbor, Wash., Michelle and her husband John Alexander of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Chad and his wife Renee Wright of West Jordon, Utah, and Brett Lamb of Utah; brothers, Russell and his wife Sharon Lamb of Murray, Utah, Bert and his wife Dori Lamb of Castle Dale, Utah, and Bill Lamb of Fountain Green, Utah; half-sister, Drucilla and her husband Mike Pederson of Washington, Utah; and many nieces and nephews as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marvel; son, LeGrand; and daughter, Tammy.
