PALMER — Food preservation classes will be offered Aug. 5 to 13 at the Cooperative Extension office, 809 S Chugach St., Suite 2, Palmer.
First is a class on jam and jelly making from 1 to 3 p.m., Aug. 5. Students will learn to make jellied products and processing in a boiling water canner in this hands-on class.
Second, a class from 1 to 4 p.m., Aug. 13 on pickles and sauerkraut will teach students to make and process quick-pack pickles and fermented products. The class will repeat that evening from 6 to 9 p.m.
Cost for each class is $15 per person. Class size is limited to 16 and pre-registration is required.
