Life-long resident of Wasilla, Frank Smith passed away on July 9, 2018, at Mat-Su Regional Hospital from complications related to a stroke. The oldest of five children, Frank was just a month shy of his 91st birthday.
He was known as a kind and giving person who went out of his way to help others. He donated the land used by the Wasilla Senior Center and was responsible for many anonymous gifts to those in need throughout the community.
Alaska was Frank’s home. He never wanted to live anywhere else and would rather travel somewhere within the state than go “outside.” He enjoyed telling stories of his adventures throughout Alaska, either working with his Father, or during his service in the Alaska Guard. He never met a stranger and would strike up conversations with anyone, anywhere, anytime.
A Service will be scheduled at a later date to honor Frank. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Wasilla Museum and Visitor Center.
