Free energy efficiency classes

Valley Community for Recycling Solutions will offer a series of free energy efficiency classes from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 23 and 24. These classes are great for homeowners participating in the energy rebate program and for anyone looking to do some home improvements this summer and save money on utility and heating bills.

Classes provide 12 to 16 hours of continuing education for realtors, builders, home inspectors, architects, engineers and appraisers. Registration is required and space is limited. For more information, or to register, contact 258-2247.

Classes offered are:

June 23

• 8 to 10 a.m., first steps – building science basics

• 10 a.m. to noon, finding and fixing air leaks

• 1 to 3 p.m., how to choose a contractor

• 3 to 5 p.m., lighting and appliances

June 24

• 8 to 10 a.m., heating and hot water choices

• 10 a.m. to noon, evaluating doors and windows

• 1 to 3 p.m., insulating for savings and comfort

• 3 to 5 p.m., healthy indoor air through ventilation
